The Joy of Eating Out
Steak Sandwich from Step In Restaurant, Parkchester, Bronx
I hate
cooking……..sometimes! I love eating out...all the time! Its so nice to have someone prepare a meal for
you. I don’t care if it’s at a
restaurant or having dinner at someone’s house. First deciding what you want.
The anticipation of waiting for it. Then
the moment of truth.
These days
when I have a dinner party, I go all out.
I make sure everything is pure perfection. I plan the guestlist. What I will serve. Not
to mention how many courses and when to bring out the courses. Eating with friends and having great
conversation is an important and pleasurable part of life.
When I was
little my parents used to entertain like that.
I remember the excitement in the house as we prepared for our eventful
night. My mom planning the menu,
shopping for the food. Preparing the
food and cooking it. Making sure
everything was pure perfection. When I
entertain, my friends love it because I do all I can to make a memorable
evening. Most important I want everyone
to feel special. That is the way my mom
was. I also remember going to the house
of my parent’s friends and how they put out an incredible spread. I could see the looks on their faces and feel
their anticipation as we ate and talked. They too enjoyed the experience of
entertaining guests. Making sure
everybody felt satisfied and special.
Today people don’t have as much time to have grand dinners and big
talking parties as we did in previous years.
What a shame we are too busy to carry on such an important and joyous
tradition. Today we are too busy but we
must make time for these moments. These
are the times we will remember forever.
So, even if you have to plan months in advance. Don’t wait for a big
holiday. Plan a big joyous dinner with
all you love. These are the best of
times.
